MINIMALISM DEFINED

photo: Steve Willi

I generally do not like to clean or declutter.  But the end result is what soothes me.  As if I am ridding myself of all the negativity in the world.  When I see a clean and open space I feel like I can breathe again.  That my environment is safe and that I am in control.

Don’t get me wrong I am definitely not a neat freak. I just like to keep my things to a minimum because when you have less things, you have less clutter.  So less things are what I aim for.

By knowing what I have, I am content.

Minimalism isn’t just about clearing the clutter, eliminating debt and cutting out negative relationships.  To me, minimalism is the ability to control my life and free myself from all the chaos this world often brings.

It’s like a warm embrace when you need it.  A smile on a gloomy day.  Minimalism is freedom to travel when you want whenever you want. To live your life on your own terms.   It’s healthy boundaries. It’s meaning no and saying NO. It’s taking your life back.

This is what minimalism means to me.

If you don’t object I am going to take that last few sentences and use it as a quote of the day soon. It’s great! Let me know if that’s cool!
